Exercise Bikes Reviews

Reading exercise bike reviews is a good way to compare different models if you are looking to buy one for your own use. Exercise bike reviews should be an unbiased view of the merits of the machine - however, many times, what look like exercise bike reviews are actually the manufacturer's or seller's own comments.

There's little doubt that this is an excellent choice of home fitness equipment, suitable for everyone from absolute beginners through to highly trained athletes. They provide a great cardiovascular workout, tone your leg and glute muscles, and because they are non weight bearing they do so without putting strain on your back and joints.

If you are looking for one for home use you will find two main types on the market:

  • Upright: Similar to outdoor models, you sit upright whilst pedalling. If your budget is more limited you will find that most budget models are uprights.

  • Recumbent: Recumbent machines put you in a more relaxed position, on a seat that is parallel to the ground, with the pedals in front of you. This offers better low back support and is thus ideal for overweight people or those with back or knee problems.

When comparing different models, consider the following issues:

  • Comfort: Can you find a comfortable position on this model? To get comfortable you need a range of adjustments (saddle height, handle bar position, etc), and a comfortable seat.

  • Are the controls easy to understand and use? Sometimes the extra bells and whistles can simply make the machine harder to use.

  • Will this model fit in your home? Make sure you know how much space you have and how big the machine is!

  • Noise: Is it quiet? This is especially important if you live somewhere that your noise might disturb others.
