Boxing gloves and pads are a key piece of equipment to buy before starting any boxing training. The most important reason for using gloves and pads is to provide protection for the hands during boxing workouts. There are many different types of gloves and pads available but you should choose the ones that are most comfortable and offer you the best protection.
When looking for gloves you will find that they often come in different weights and use different materials. Most gloves are suitable for pad or bag work but in general, the heavier gloves (14oz and 16oz) are used for sparring and punch bag work and the lighter gloves (10oz and 12oz) are more suitable for boxercise and pad work. Leather gloves are often more hard wearing and comfortable than synthetic materials but are generally more expensive.
