Used Cross Trainers

If you are looking for used cross trainers, there are several things that you need to know. This is a piece of equipment that is usually pretty reliable, so looking second hand can make good sense - if you are a smart buyer you can save a lot of money.

One advantage when looking for used cross trainers is that many people buy exercise equipment and then don't use it. The country is full of exercise bikes, rowers, treadmills and ellipticals that are used more as laundry racks than workout machines!

As a buyer that means that there are some real bargains out there on equipment that has seen little use. A quick scan through the local paper or at an online auction site will reveal just how much used equipment is available.

While you can certainly pick up a bargain this way, the lack of certainty bothers some people. When you buy privately, there is no warranty, no refurbished parts, just a sold-as-seen purchase. If this worries you, the alternative is to buy from one of the many dealers who specialize in second hand workout equipment.

Dealers carry a range of equipment that has either been refurbished or remanufactured. The difference between the two can be significant, so it's worth understanding how they differ.

Refurbished models are usually less than 2 years old, so need less work done on them. Refurbishment models have been cleaned up, and had any broken parts replaced. Remanufactured models are older, and have had much more work done - typically they have had a full make over that involves disassembly, the metal work being sandblasted and repainted, and any worn or broken parts replaced.

Whichever option you choose, be sure to test any second hand equipment before purchasing it.
