Multigyms and Cable Machines are an increasingly popular addition to any home gym or studio. As well as exercise machines and weights, you can buy an entire home multi gym that will help you train all your muscles effectively. You'll need a spare room to put it in, but if you get good use out of it you'll save a fortune on gym membership fees in the long run.
Multi gyms let you do various exercises on one piece of equipment, with different sections to let you concentrate on different muscle groups and body areas. Multigyms range in cost and size. The more you spend, the more you will get for your money but there are some very inexpensive home training gyms available. The two most common types of multi gym that you are likely to come across are known as fixed motion and cable motion.
Fixed motion gyms usually have set exercise positions where you push against a resistance in a 'fixed motion'. Cable motion gyms allow you slightly more freedom to perform exercises in different planes of motion. Most multi gyms offer the same core exercises such as chest press, leg extension/curl and seated row but many now extend far beyond that and allow you to perform a whole host of different exercises.
