For many people, weight machines are the core of a good home gym.
Weight machines offer the opportunity to perform a wide range of exercises in a limited space, but choosing the right one is vital. The three biggest considerations when choosing weights machines are:
Space is often a non-negotiable factor. You have a designated space set aside for your home gym, and if the machine won't fit in the space available, it simply won't work. When considering space, make sure you also allow room to actually move around and work out! Most specs will give an estimate of not just the floor space taken up by the machine, but also the "functional space" you need.
Options are a critical factor when choosing a home machine. You want something that either gives you the biggest variety of exercises to do, or else has the potential to add on other modules at a later date. Get a machine that is too basic and you'll soon get bored.
Price is often the first thing that people think about, but in many ways it should be the last. Buying a machine based on price that either doesn't fit or doesn't provide a good workout is simply a waste of money.
