Buying weight training equipment for a home gym offers you plenty of options. But before you can start looking at what weight training equipment to buy, you have to answer three questions:
- How much space do you have?
- What are your training needs?
- What is your budget?
For most people, the issue of space is paramount. Unless you are lucky enough to have a large, empty room available, the chances are that your workout space will be at a premium. You therefore have to plan carefully when looking at your weight training equipment options.
Having said that, many people have built a superbly effective home gym in a very limited space. It all comes down to figuring out how to get the best combination of equipment in a limited space.
To a large extent that will depend on your training needs - by which we mean what your training goals are, and what type of workouts you enjoy.
Some of the best home gyms are built around simple items like pull-up bars, a punch bag, and some basic free weights and dumbbells. You can get a highly effective workout from those, but it might be a bit too hardcore for some.
If you budget is a little bigger, and your tastes less Spartan, you might prefer an all-in-one home gym.
